Welcome to Peterhead and Fraserburgh Fish Processors Association
Peterhead & Fraserburgh Fish Processors Association (PFFPA) was established in 1981; currently there are approximately 40 members in the Association. The majority of members are small processors employing between 5 – 20 staff. Collectively the members’ employ around 3000 people. PFFPA members are proud to be among the world's leading producers of quality seafood products. The PFFPA exists to serve the needs of the shore-based seafood processors in Peterhead and Fraserburgh, who must fight to survive in the face of today's economic, environmental, and regulatory challenges.

Fishing is the heritage of the North East of Scotland. For more than a century commercial fishing has framed that heritage. The Association is proud to be a part of that heritage. PFFPA was established as a non-profit trade association to foster a better public understanding of the importance of the seafood industry and its value to the regional and national economies. Our members provide markets for hundreds of fishermen, and career opportunities for thousands more people in the region. As responsible partners in the seafood industry, PFFPA members stand committed to the long-term health of the marine resources and the protection of the marine environment of the U.K. coastline.
Our members face challenges in a business environment that is characterized by:
- Global Market Competition
- Increased costs (sush as fuel) and shrinking profit margins
- Oversupply of some species
- Lack of supply of some species
- Increased regulatory costs
- Additional fishing restrictions
- Opposition from the anti-fishing environmental industry
- Managing fisheries in areas where endangered species live
The future is unpredictable, but the seafood industry will remain an important and vital industry in North East Scotland. The jobs provided, the taxes generated, the local supplies and services purchased, and the community contributions our members make demonstrate our commitment to the future health and well being of the community, economy, and environment.
Enquiries for new membership are always welcome.
